The whole emphasis on death is to understand that,
What you are is life,
And not the "gradual accumulations" of the body and mind,
Which shall be returned to earth in the course of the cycle of time (birth and death).
Any identification with anything that can only be fulfilled with the body, will result in a desire for reincarnation.
On the other hand, pure desires of pure energy can be fulfilled in the astral itself.
They are your instruments for expression or possessions, and not you.
How you hold your possessions depends on how established your realization and awareness is, about this fact that you are this pure non-physical energy/intelligence/substance of life.
Life works through the gathered forged instruments of the body and mind.
But life itself is transcendent of them.
Like the knots in the rope, or whirlpools in the water, or tornados in the air.
The physical manifestation is a certain modulation of the field of life.
So bondage is an illusion. The intrinsic nature of life is transcendent.
Once there is the smallest curve in space-time, the manifestation becomes cyclic.
So to go from physical to non-physical you are literally straightening yourself out.
To give complete freedom to manifestation, and then look at it clearly from the eyes of transcendent freedom, is to get enlightened/freed/mukti/moksha/liberation.
The energies that support the body will take care of the body - through creating forces to fulfill its maintenance.
Hunger will make you eat, Thirst will make you drink, and there will be clear desires/impulses for each of the body instrument maintenance tasks.
Even the mind will gravitate to certain things, naturally seek balance, and thus maintain itself.
The personality (relational matrix program), body, and mind, are instruments serving life.
This is not in the realm of logic. Like why should I play music if it is going to get over.
Life is for its own sake.
It is a fountain of creativity.
There is only God's will, God's desire, God's play, and you are that.
